PERSONALITY: A silver-tongued trickster by nature, Loki prefers to use his words long before his powers when faced with an enemy. While physically, Loki is subpar compared to the strength possessed by an Asgardian, his mind is his greatest weapon and he would love nothing more than to watch a person destroy themselves, leaving his hands clean. Loki is very fond of manipulating others and lies pour off his tongue smoothly without hesitation. However, Loki knows full well the power of truth, and is just as likely to use brutal honesty if it could do more damage. If Loki can find your weakness, he will use and twist and manipulate it until you’re on your knees.
Loki can be ruthless that way, and once he has a goal in his mind, he will continue to fight to achieve it until he has or there is no hope to succeed. In that vein, Loki despises failure, remembering all the times he was second-best to Thor, even if he showed great promise. He is willing to sacrifice to get what he wants, and it takes a lot for him to admit defeat.
Feeling passed over, ignored and not respected bothers him more than he’s willing to admit. All Loki really wants is acceptance and respect, something he felt he has always been denied, first because he was trapped in Thor’s shadow and then because he was struggling to overcome his heritage and the fact that he was the monster parents tell their children about.
His heritage is a source of conflict for him, as Loki hasn’t fully accepted who he is. He would rather deny that he is a Jotun, but he doesn’t want to call himself Asgardian now either. With the death of his mother and the betrayal of the man he called father, Loki doesn’t consider him a citizen of any society and he will call himself the Son of None, throwing away that patriarchal surname from both Odin and Laufey, unwilling to accept either of them as his father.
By nature, Loki internalises his own feelings, emotions and thoughts, sharing very little. Because he utilises others’ weaknesses against them, he keeps himself over-conscious of his own to protect himself. He is unwilling or unable to forget and forgive the slights against him, the sneers and words and ill will he earned since childhood for being different. Loki hates and loves with equal passion and despite how cold he seems, he is very emotional.
On the other hand, he is reserved, thoughtful and never goes into something without a plan. Even though it was never acknowledged, he was a master tactician, able to assess a situation and use all available assets to his benefit.
Loki isn’t loyal to people, and will not think twice about switching sides depending on where the greatest benefit to himself lies. He’s adaptable, and above all, he is concerned for his own survival, his own needs and his own wants. That doesn’t mean that he is incapable of loyalty, but that trust is hard to nearly-impossible to earn at this point.
Since the Chitauri and his imprisonment, he is slightly more vindictive, seeking his version of justice for the things he’s suffered. After running Asgard for a time under the guise of his father, Loki has regained some of his sense of humor and following the positive change in his relationship with his brother, Loki has softened slightly and is more good than he is bad.
ABILITIES:
Superhuman strength: Loki has strength comparable to Asgardians, though he is not capable of overpowering Thor. He can easily overpower normal humans and even Captain America. He can utilise his strength to leap across great distances.
Superhuman Reflexes, Agility and Stamina: He is quick and able to react just as quickly to his surroundings. He was able to catch an arrow as it was fired at him. His increased agility, balance and coordination provide him a grace and fluidity to his fighting. Loki is capable of fighting for long periods of time without tiring or showing any kind of fatigue.
Superhuman Longevity and Healing: Jotun are capable of living far longer than most beings and they age very slowly. Loki is well over one thousand years old, and is still considered young by Jotun standards. Loki is capable of completely healing minor wounds in minutes, and from graver wounds in a proportional amount of time.
Invulnerability: As an Jotun, Loki is immune to all diseases, poisons and toxins, including radiation and heavy metal poisoning. His dense skin and musculature make him partially invulnerable to weighted impacts, falls from great heights, explosions and gunshots, and magic. He can withstand being slammed repeatedly into the floor by the Hulk and blows from Captain America and his brother Thor with little physical injury.
Master Combatant, Marksmen and Strategist: Spending years in training in both battle and strategy, Loki is very capable of handling himself in battle. While not one of the best warriors of Asgard, he has great aim with his throwing knives, his weapon of choice, though he has shown the ability to effectively wield a spear in battle. He is capable of taking on multiple opponents with ease.
Cold Manipulation: Because he is a full-blooded Jotun, Loki has the ability to generate enough cold to freeze water right out of the air. He is capable of doing this to the extent of completely surrounding a person in enough ice to prevent their movement. He is also capable of forming weaponry out of ice that are extremely durable and create projectiles. He is able to freeze lightning.
Cold Resistance: Loki is able to resist very low temperatures with ease. On the other hand, he has an intolerance for very high temperatures.
Natural Appearance: When exposed to extended periods of cold, or utilising any of his natural powers, Loki is unable to maintain his Asgardian appearance, reverting to his natural appearance of full, dark red eyes and patterned blue skin.
Teleportation: Loki is capable of teleporting both small and great distances, moving from room to room or from Asgard to Earth in seconds.
Invisibility: He is capable of disappearing from sight and sound, hiding himself even from the watcher of the Nine Realms, the omnipotent Heimdall. He is capable of extending this to others.
Matter Manipulation: Loki is capable of changing his clothing at will.
Shape and Gender Shifting: Through his extensive training, he is capable of shifting his appearance to any animal or person, as well as the ability to change his gender. He is able to mimic their appearance as well as their voice.
Creating Illusions and Copies: Loki is capable of generating copies of himself that are functionally indeterminable from the original except that they are intangible. They are capable of speaking and moving, but nothing else.
Summoning: Loki is capable of summoning items as he needs. He must know what the item is and where to be able to summon it.
